You Only Spoke

Where is the law? Mr. President, you told us that your heart
is broken. But what happened yesterday is the last straw.
You cry and share the country's pain.  It's nice to
know you care.  But your tears won't wipe away
this stain.

How many more kids have to die? How many more
shootings will there be?  How many more moms and
dads have to cry?  We don't need any more tears.
We don't need any more words.  We've got
enough fears.

What is the right to bear arms worth when small
body bags are the end result?  The NRA abuses the second
amendment just so they can have their guns.  That's just an insult.

Mr. President, the time for you to act is now.
If you're confused, don't worry.  America
will tell you how.  If you watch the news you
will see that these gun related crimes are on
a role.  This has to stop.  That's why we
want gun control.

Reach

I'm walkin' around lookin' up at
what I can't reach.  Pretty faces
fill the places I wish I could
be.  I was a child who no one
wanted to teach.  Now misery
is all I see.

Now I've grown and I'm trying to
give my life a jump start.  That's hard
to do when it's empty.  I need someone
with smile and an open heart.  I could
use some company.

I don't know much but I can poor my
soul into a song.  I hope it's gonna make
you see what's inside me.  How can that
be wrong? I hope it's gonna make you
love me.

Procrastination of a Sonnet

How do I write a sonnet? Is there someone I can ask? I haven't written anything yet. It seems like a daunting task. I'm guilty of procrastination. I kept putting this off until later. For this poem; I lacked motivation. I was also distracted by sunny weather. I should've taken a writing class. I can't find my iambic-pentameter. I feel like an ass. I'll come back to this later. I need to focus like a crook. Time to log off of Facebook. By Eben Cooper
